“preserve yourself by following the natural bends of things and don’t interfere. Remember never to assert yourself against nature; never be in frontal opposition to any problems, but control it by swinging with it… being detached — not being without emotion or feeling, but being one in whom feeling was not sticky or blocked. Therefore in order to control myself I must first accept myself by going with and not against my nature.” – Bruce Lee
Close your eyes…. (whispering) listen to the babble of the current…. the rustling leaves … birds, the bees, hear each individual sound – feel the breeze and warm sunshine on your skin. Connect to the present.
Focus on breathing. Breath in deeply through the nose, with mouth closed – while doing this – count for eight seconds. On count of nine, start to exhale steadily, slowly, through only the nose, keeping the mouth closed. Counting 12 more seconds, slowly exhaling without breathing air in until after the count of twelve. Keep it poised and smooth when you cycle from in to out and vise versa.
Repeat this 10+ times in a row at least once, everyday. During meditation with your eyes closed. Or while you are engaged in some activity – walking, sitting, watching tv, cleaning, driving your car, in bed or even on the toilet! Make sure to focus on the breathing and counting. Steady, even and connected to ourselves, ever present.
This brings the topic to flow state. When we go against the flow. The current may often push us off balance because of unforeseen forces. Requiring us to course correct over and over playing defense. Sometimes finding ourselves in uncomfortable, or even unforgiving situations. Going against the flow. Requires time, effort and rigor – it wears down on us, always pushing forward into the current. Are we doing what we want to do, or what our gut tells us we should be doing?
What if we change perspective….And live in the flow. This means surrendering trust in the natural course to lead us. Living in each moment experiencing, sudden changes in forward or sideways momentum, bumping into redirects and waves of whooptidoos can rock the boat without warning. Often seemingly random, serendipitous or even inconceivable happenstances take place. After unwinding, it all totally makes sense!
Once in awhile we may have to give ourselves a push – to reconnect with the current. Get back into the flow. To live in flow state we release ourselves with a set intention to complete our task. The laws that govern us here – in this form, in flow – in this setting, work for us. Not against us. Unless, we fight them.
Mentally this requires grappling with notions of free choice, and addressing what are needs, wants and ego. We must – analyze and sit with information to process. What does our gut say? Remembering the collective unconscious already knows everything, about everything that exists – in minute details – Past, present and future. Does true free choice truly exist for humans?
We have all dreamt our futures, while sleeping and everyone has Dejavu. It’s a matter of reading the coded messages. If our processor is fragged – due to external forces – we may have a harder time decoding correctly.
Our brain is the original – and reigning champion – super computer, connected to an interconnected web of probability and outcome. It manifests outcomes, plots the fastest route automatically and will download the directions from the universal cloud. We simply have to access the data and download it. With one major caveat. We must wholeheartedly trust the auto pilot.
We can peer in and look up things, gain knowledge and even steer – ever – so slightly. This is our minor free will.
